Some harnesses are built for sport. This one is built for the walk you actually take every day — around the block before coffee, the slow evening loop, the weekend trail when you have time. The Kindred Tails Premium Dog Harness pairs a softly padded chest and back panel with a clean, minimal silhouette that looks as considered as the rest of your home.
The step-in design goes on in seconds without passing anything over your dog's head, and four points of adjustment let you dial in a close, even fit that distributes pressure across the chest rather than the throat. A front and back leash attachment give you options: back-clip for relaxed walkers, front-clip when you want a little more steering on busy sidewalks.
Outer shell in a smooth, tightly woven polyester with a soft padded lining. Hardware in matte-finish metal and durable molded polymer. Final fiber percentages and hardware specifications will be confirmed with our supplier and published here before the product ships — this listing is part of our launch preview catalogue.
Hand wash in cool water with a mild detergent and air dry flat, away from direct heat. Wipe hardware dry after wet walks. Check straps and buckles regularly and discontinue use if any part is damaged or chewed.
Step-in fit: lay the harness flat, place your dog's front paws through the loops, lift the panels around the torso and clip. Adjust until you can fit two fingers flat between the straps and your dog's body at every point. Attach your leash to the back ring for everyday walks, or the front ring for extra steering. A harness is a walking tool, not a chew toy — supervise your dog while it is worn and remove it indoors if your dog chews straps.
A note on the first week: most dogs need two or three walks to forget a new harness is there. Expect a shake or two, maybe a dramatic sigh at the door — then business as usual. Fit-check after the first walk, not before it: straps settle under movement, and the snugness you set in the hallway often loosens a quarter-inch by the corner. If your dog is a determined harness Houdini who backs out of everything, fit matters doubly — the chest strap should sit behind the widest rib point, and we are happy to review a photo of the fit by email before you commit to a size.
Measure the widest part of your dog's chest, just behind the front legs, with a soft tape held snug but not tight. Add roughly two fingers of ease. If your dog is between sizes or has a deep chest and narrow neck (sighthounds, dachshunds), choose the larger size and use the neck and chest adjustments to fine-tune. Exact per-size chest ranges will be published here once confirmed with our supplier — if fit matters more than timing, email us before ordering and we will confirm the right size with you personally.

No harness can retrain pulling on its own, and we won't claim otherwise. The front attachment point does give you noticeably more steering on busy streets, which most owners find makes training easier — pair it with consistent reward-based training for real results.
Yes — that is exactly why we chose a step-in design. Your dog simply places her front paws through the loops and the harness clips up around her torso. Nothing passes over her head or ears.
It is designed for walks and outings, not all-day wear. Prolonged wear can rub, especially on short coats, so we recommend removing it at home and checking the fit and your dog's skin regularly.
