Our Story
Kindred Tails started the way most pet brands secretly do: with animals who ran the household and gear that couldn't keep up.
There was a dog whose harness rubbed, whose leash clashed with everything, and whose greatest joy — a wet trail — reliably ended with a back seat that needed professional help. And there was a cat who treated the curtains as a climbing frame because the sunny window seat she deserved didn't exist, and who slept, pointedly, in the laundry basket instead of the novelty-print bed bought for her.
The problem wasn't a lack of pet products. It was a lack of considered ones: accessories designed around real daily moments, made from materials that clean up and hold up, and styled calmly enough to live in a home that someone has taken care over. Most pet gear shouted. Our homes — and our pets — are quieter than that.
What We Make, and How We Decide
Every Kindred Tails product has to pass three tests. First, the moment test: it must make a specific daily moment — the morning walk, the road trip, the 3 p.m. sunbeam nap — genuinely better. Second, the laundry test: it must clean up easily, because pets are mud, fur and enthusiasm. Third, the living-room test: it has to look like it belongs in a considered home, in the muted palette of Olive, Sand, Charcoal and White that runs through the whole range.
We keep the range small on purpose — ten accessories and four sets — because we'd rather refine a harness until the padding sits exactly right than launch forty forgettable products a season. When we don't know a specification yet, we say so on the page rather than inventing one; you will find honest placeholders in our size charts until supplier confirmations land. That honesty is deliberate, and it extends to prices: bundle savings on this site are arithmetic, not theater.
Where We Are, Honestly
Kindred Tails is an online-only brand operated internationally and sold to customers in the United States. We do not operate a US warehouse or retail store; fulfilment arrangements are confirmed with each order by email. Kindred Tails is a young, online-only brand. Orders are confirmed personally by email before payment, because we'd rather have a short conversation about your dog's chest measurement than ship you the wrong size. As the store grows, fulfilment and payment will formalize — and the pages here will be updated to match reality, not aspiration.
The Name
"Kindred" is for the way pets are family — not property, not accessories themselves, but kin. "Tails" is for the obvious. Together they're our whole philosophy: kin, with tails, deserve gear made with the same care as everything else in the home. Thank you for being here at the beginning of it.
